Why a Skyexchange password reset goes through WhatsApp
Most websites let you press Forgot password and email you a link. That works when the site controls an email address or an SMS gateway. Your Skyexchange ID was issued by us and tied to a mobile number on day one, so the safest proof that a reset request is genuine is a message from that number. It also removes the one thing fake sites love most: a reset form that quietly records whatever you type into it. If you ever see a Skyexchange reset form on a web page, you're on a copy. Read how to spot fake Skyexchange sites before you go any further.
Resetting your password, step by step
- Make sure it's the password. One careful attempt, correct capitals, no trailing space. If it fails twice, stop, because a run of wrong attempts can lock the account. The login not working guide lists everything else that produces the same error.
- Open the official WhatsApp. Use the button below or the link on the Official Channels page. Don't search WhatsApp for a Skyexchange number, and don't reply to a number that messaged you first.
- Message from the registered number. Send your login ID and say you need a password reset. The number you message from is the verification, so it has to be that SIM and not a second phone.
- Answer what we ask. We may ask you to confirm things already on the account, like the number itself or roughly when the ID was issued. We will not ask for a password or an OTP.
- Take the temporary password. We send it in the same verified chat. Use it once, at skyexchangess.in.
- Change it straight away. On that first login, open the platform settings and set your own password. Then delete the chat message that held the temporary one.
- Log out everywhere else. If you asked for the reset because something felt wrong rather than because you forgot, close every other session so the new password is the only one that works.
What we will and will not ask for
- We will ask: your login ID, confirmation that you are messaging from the registered number, and account details you already know.
- We will not ask: your current password, any OTP, a screenshot of a banking app, a fee to process the reset, or that you install an APK to finish it.
- We will: reply from the official number only, share the temporary password in that same chat, and remind you to change it on first login.
If a chat asks for anything outside this list, stop and compare the number with the Official Channels page.
Picking a password that holds up
The right password is one you can remember and nobody could guess or find in a leaked list. For your Skyexchange account, stick to these:
- Twelve characters or more. Length matters more than symbols. Three or four unrelated words with a symbol between them is strong and easy to recall.
- Used nowhere else. Not your email password, not a social login, not another exchange. One leak should never open two doors.
- Not built from your ID or number. A password containing the login ID, the registered number, or a birth year is the first guess anyone makes.
- Not a keyboard walk. qwerty123 and 1q2w3e4r sit in every cracking list ever published.
- Kept somewhere sensible. A password manager, or a note in a safe place, is fine. A note on a shared family phone, or a chat with yourself, is not.
Logout routines, device hygiene, and the rest of the habits are in the Skyexchange security checklist.
Sent the message, no reply yet
Yes, this happens. Before you send a second message, check which of these you're looking at:
| Symptom | Likely reason | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| One grey tick on your message | Your WhatsApp has not delivered it | Check your data connection and wait for two ticks before assuming we saw it. |
| Two ticks, nothing back yet | A queue of requests, or your verification is in progress | Wait. Opening a second chat from a different number puts you back at the start. |
| Reply came from a different number | Probably an impersonator | Do nothing with it. Compare the number against Official Channels. |
| You messaged from an unregistered number | We cannot confirm it is you | Message again from the registered SIM, or use account recovery if that SIM is gone. |
| Temporary password rejected | Typed with the wrong case, or already changed | Copy and paste it exactly. Still rejected? Ask us to reissue it in the same chat. |
Resetting because something looked wrong
If the reason is a login you didn't make, or a saved password you don't recognise, say so in your first message. We can look at recent activity on the ID before issuing the new password and tell you whether the registered number should be reviewed as well. After that, delete any Skyexchange APK you didn't receive from the official WhatsApp, and clear saved passwords in your browser for every domain that isn't skyexchangess.in.
Phone or desktop, the reset is the same
The conversation lives in WhatsApp, so the device makes no difference to the reset itself. Where it does matter is the step afterwards, changing the temporary password. On a phone, open the platform in the browser or in the official app from the app download page; the mobile login page shows that flow. On a desktop, log in from the Sky Exchange login page and open account settings from the menu.
No registered number either?
The normal reset leans entirely on your registered mobile number. If that SIM is lost, blocked, or was never yours, we can't run a standard reset, and a request from any other number gets declined for your own protection. Follow the Skyexchange account recovery guide instead, which explains what we may ask for when the number itself has to change.
